Sanrio is marking the 50th anniversary of one of its most beloved characters, My Melody, with the release of a limited-edition wristwatch created in collaboration with Japanese watchmaker Seiko. This elegant and charming timepiece is part of a year-long celebration of the iconic bunny, following a similar anniversary tribute to Hello Kitty in 2024.
The special edition watch features a silver-tone casing paired with a metallic rose gold face, combining sophistication with Sanrio’s signature cuteness. My Melody is prominently displayed at the 6 o’clock position, while whimsical butterfly motifs mark the 12 and 50-minute points. The dial also includes the Seiko logo and My Melody’s name, surrounded by playful design elements that highlight the character’s charm.
On the back of the watch, fans will find an etched illustration of My Melody alongside the Seiko logo and the words “My Melody 50th Anniversary.” Each watch is individually numbered, with only 2,000 units produced worldwide. The watch is water-resistant and designed for daily wear, blending practical function with collectible appeal.
The timepiece comes in a decorative box styled like a miniature dollhouse, featuring artwork of My Melody as a fairy. The watch itself rests on a small pillow inside, adding to the presentation’s overall “kawaii” (cute) aesthetic.
Priced at 43,780 yen (approximately USD $302, tax included), the watch is available through Japanese retailer Premico. While Premico does not offer direct shipping to the United States, international customers can purchase the watch through global platforms such as Japan-Select, which specialize in distributing Japanese exclusives abroad.
This limited-edition release is a must-have for My Melody fans and Sanrio collectors, offering a stylish way to celebrate the character’s five decades of charm.
