A new trailer for the upcoming supernatural comedy anime Dekin no Mogura: The Earthbound Mole was released today, offering a first listen to its opening theme, “Kamidanomi” by syudou, known for his work on TSUKIMICHI -Moonlit Fantasy-. The anime is set to premiere on July 7, with a global simulcast on Crunchyroll. The ending theme, “Kenso feat. Aile The Shota,” will be performed by Mirin Sheeno.
Alongside the trailer, two new voice cast members were announced:
- Maggie will be voiced by Aki Toyosaki
- Sukekiyo will be voiced by Mafia Kajita
The anime is directed by Hiroshi Ishiodori (An Archdemon’s Dilemma: How to Love Your Elf Bride) at studio Brain’s Base. The production team includes Shinzo Fujita (To Your Eternity) as series composer, Yoko Tanabe (Handyman Saitou in Another World) as character designer, and Tomoki Hasegawa (Grandpa and Grandma Turn Young Again) handling the music.
To celebrate the series and its creator, an art exhibition titled “Natsumi Eguchi 15th Anniversary Exhibition – In the Space Between the Other World and This World” will be held at Yurakucho Marui in Tokyo from August 22 to September 7. The event will showcase original artwork and production materials from both Hozuki’s Coolheadedness and Dekin no Mogura: The Earthbound Mole.
Crunchyroll describes the series as a surreal and comic tale about Momoyuki Mogura, a self-proclaimed hermit who has been banned from the afterlife. Now stuck in the human world, Mogura roams around collecting spirit-possessed will-o’-wisps in his lantern in an effort to return to the beyond. Those who meet him begin to experience strange and ghostly encounters.
Created by Natsumi Eguchi, best known for Hozuki’s Coolheadedness, this new anime promises a blend of eerie mystery and sharp humor as it explores the boundary between life and death.
