To mark the 10th anniversary of the anime AOKANA: Four Rhythm Across the Blue, animation studio GONZO will host a commemorative event on June 28, 2025, as part of its ongoing GONZO BACCA series. The event, titled “AOKANA: Four Rhythm Across the Blue – 10-shunen karaga, Hontou no Shoubu” (“The Real Bout Starts with the 10th Anniversary”), will take place at TOKYO TOWER RED゜ARENA on the 5th floor of Tokyo Tower Foot Town.
A new key visual was unveiled ahead of the celebration, drawn by Keiya Nakano, who served as character designer and chief animation director for the original anime. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Nakano noted it was the first time in years he had created an official illustration for the series.
The anniversary event will feature several special guests, including director Fumitoshi Oizaki, and voice actors Misato Fukuen (Asuka Kurashina) and Nozomi Yamamoto (Mashiro Arisaka). They will reflect on the making of the series and share behind-the-scenes stories. Fans can also look forward to the reveal of the “Flying Circus Best Bout Ranking,” determined by fan votes, and a live commentary session for the anime’s final episode.
AOKANA: Four Rhythm Across the Blue is based on the sci-fi romance PC game by Sprite. The 12-episode anime originally aired from January to March 2016. Crunchyroll currently streams the series and describes the story as set in a world transformed by the invention of “Grav-Shoes”—devices that let users fly freely. The story follows Asuka Kurashina, who transfers to Kunahama High School and joins the Flying Circus (FC) Club. Alongside her teammates, Asuka competes in the fast-growing aerial sport, overcoming personal challenges and rivalries as they aim for victory in the summer tournament.
