The sci-fi action anime Kaiju No. 8 has unveiled the 12th illustration in its “Kaiju Hyakkei” (“100 Views of Monsters”) series. These artworks depict everyday life in a world where giant monsters are common.
The second season of Kaiju No. 8 will premiere in Japan on July 19, 2025. Crunchyroll will stream the new season as part of its summer 2025 anime lineup.
The original manga by Naoya Matsumoto is serialized on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ digital magazine. VIZ Media publishes the English version.
The anime is directed by Shigeyuki Miya and Tomomi Kamiya at Production I.G. Ichiro Okouchi handles series composition, while Tetsuya Nishio is chief animation director and character designer. Mahiro Maeda designs the kaiju, Shinji Kimura is the art director, and Yuta Bandoh composes the music.
Kaiju No. 8 follows Kafka Hibino, a 32-year-old who dreams of joining The Defense Force to protect humanity alongside his childhood friend Mina Ashiro. After a small kaiju burrows inside him, Kafka gains superhuman strength and powers. He must earn his teammates’ trust and fight stronger kaiju to keep the world safe.
