Detective Conan: One-eyed Flashback slipped two spots to fourth place at the Japanese box office during its eighth weekend from June 6 to 8, according to industry tracker Kogyo Tsushinsha.
The 28th film in the Detective Conan (also known as Case Closed) anime series earned 223 million yen (about 1.54 million USD) from 148,000 viewers. This represents a 35.5% decline in revenue compared to the previous weekend. Since its release on April 18, the movie has grossed a total of 13.7 billion yen (94.77 million USD) with 9.46 million tickets sold.
The film has climbed to 22nd place on Japan’s all-time box office chart, surpassing titles such as Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982). It is now the 14th highest-grossing Japanese anime film ever, just behind JUJUTSU KAISEN 0, which earned 13.8 billion yen (95.46 million USD) in 2022.

A live-action adaptation of Tomoki Izumi’s horror manga Mieruko-chan debuted in seventh place, opening in 319 theaters on June 6. It also ranked sixth in Filmarks’ first-day satisfaction ratings, earning an average score of 3.87 out of 5 based on 892 reviews.
The latest concert film in the Uta no Prince-sama anime franchise, Uta no Prince-sama The Movie: TABOO NIGHT XXXX, rose one spot to eighth place in its fifth weekend.
Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan: At a Confessional, a live-action adaptation of a JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure spin-off manga episode by Hirohiko Araki, fell to ninth place in its third weekend.
The live-action adaptation of Akiko Higashimura’s autobiographical josei manga Blank Canvas: My So-Called Artist’s Journey (Kakukaku Shikajika in Japan) dropped three spots to tenth place in its fourth weekend.
The fourth feature film installment of voice actor Takuya Eguchi’s travel-themed TV show Eguchi Takuya no Oretachi Datte Iyasaretai! opened in 14 theaters on June 6, ranking second in Kogyo Tsushinsha’s mini-theater chart. The series originally aired from 2016 to 2019 and follows Eguchi and fellow voice actors Kotaro Nishiyama and Souma Saito on a trip to Kagawa Prefecture.
These movements reflect a dynamic and diverse lineup in Japan’s current cinema market.
