Crunchyroll announced today at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival that it will release JUJUTSU KAISEN: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death – The Movie in theaters across select countries. The release will include France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Latin America, and Australia. The movie will be available in Japanese with both subtitles and dubbed versions this summer.
Details about the exact release dates and ticket sales will be shared later.
The film is based on the popular supernatural shonen manga by Gege Akutami. It is directed by Shota Goshozono, with Hiroshi Seko handling the series composition and screenplay. Music is composed by Yoshimasa Terui, and animation is produced by the studio MAPPA. The movie premiered in Japan on May 30.
Crunchyroll currently streams both seasons of the JUJUTSU KAISEN TV anime and the prequel movie JUJUTSU KAISEN 0. The company described the new movie as follows:
“The innocent spring that the two strongest lost forever.”
The story revisits key moments in the JUJUTSU KAISEN universe and will be shown again in theaters.
The plot goes back to spring 2006 when Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto were high school students and powerful Jujutsu Sorcerers. At that time, no enemy could challenge them. They received a mission from Tengen, a vital figure in the Jujutsu world who possesses the cursed technique of Immortality.
Their task was twofold: to escort and erase Riko Amanai, a young girl known as the Star Plasma Vessel, who was essential to the continuation of Jujutsu society. However, the mission was disrupted by the Sorcerer Killer named Fushiguro, who aimed to assassinate Riko.
This story reveals the past events that eventually caused the rift between Gojo, the strongest Jujutsu Sorcerer, and Geto, who became the most notorious curse user.
