TV Asahi announced a new short anime series titled Koupen-chan, set to premiere in Spring 2025. The series is based on Rurutea’s beloved illustrations of Koupen-chan, a baby emperor penguin whose charm and positivity have captivated fans since its debut.
A key visual and a 31-second trailer were also unveiled, giving fans a glimpse of the heartwarming series. The anime will focus on the daily adventures of Koupen-chan and his friends, exploring their joyful and innocent approach to life’s simple pleasures.
Voice Cast and Creative Team
Voice actress Ayaka Saito will lend her talents to the titular role of Koupen-chan, providing the voice for the endearing penguin character. In the trailer, Saito narrates, offering a preview of her performance that promises to capture the essence of Koupen-chan’s warmth and charm.
The anime will be directed by Kyo Yatate, known for his work on Bananya, with Yoichi Kato (Duel Masters 2017) serving as the series’ screenwriter. The art direction is in the hands of Hiroyuki Nemoto, whose credits include Heaven’s Design Team, while Akiyuki Tateyama, known for composing the music for Laid-Back Camp, will provide the series’ soundtrack. Animation production is being handled by Lesprit.
