Alien Comedy Manga Uchūjin MūMū to Receive TV Anime Adaptation in 2025

by Hazel

A TV anime adaptation of Uchūjin MūMū (Alien MūMū), the comedic manga by Hiroki Miyashita, has been confirmed for release in 2025. The announcement comes following the reveal of a cover image for the January 2025 issue of Young King Ours, Shonengahosha’s monthly manga magazine, which will feature the first official details. The issue is scheduled to ship on December 3.

Uchūjin MūMū blends “super spectacle, home appliances, and comedy,” and follows the adventures of MūMū, a feline-like alien who arrives on Earth to recover lost technology from her own species. Her sudden appearance disrupts the peaceful life of a college student, setting the stage for a series of outlandish events that could ultimately change the course of human history.

The manga, which began as a one-shot in April 2019, was quickly serialized starting in June of the same year. Shonengahosha published the manga’s seventh collected volume in May 2024.

The title Uchūjin MūMū and the alien character’s name appear to be an homage to Mū, a magazine known for covering paranormal topics, which has been referenced in numerous anime, manga, and games, including Weathering With You and Occultic;Nine.

Miyashita, best known for his work on Yakuza Reincarnation, another manga series, has gained a loyal following for his distinctive blend of supernatural storytelling and humor. Yakuza Reincarnation (Ninkyō Tensei: Isekai no Yakuza Hime) was first serialized in Shogakukan’s Sunday GX magazine in July 2019, and its 15th volume was released in August 2024. The English-language version of Yakuza Reincarnation is being published by Seven Seas Entertainment, which released its 10th volume on July 30, 2024.
