The popular manga Me and the Alien MuuMuu by Hiroki Miyashita is set to receive a TV anime adaptation, slated for release in 2025. The announcement was made following the publication of a “leaked image” in the web version of Monthly Mu magazine, which was quickly followed by the official unveiling of the anime’s key visual.
A Newcomer Takes the Lead
The series will feature newcomer Momo Harumi as the voice of Sakurako, the protagonist, while veteran voice actress Etsuko Kozakura will lend her talents to the role of the alien MuuMuu. Harumi’s casting marks a notable debut, as she steps into the spotlight in this highly anticipated project.
About Me and the Alien MuuMuu
Me and the Alien MuuMuu, serialized in Shōnen Gahōsha’s Young King OURs, combines elements of sci-fi, household appliance humor, and quirky comedy. The story follows MuuMuu, a cat-like alien from a distant planet, who comes to Earth to study human technology, specifically household appliances, in an effort to help restore the lost technological advancements of his species.
The story takes a comedic turn when Sakurako, a university student leading a seemingly ordinary life, becomes entangled in MuuMuu’s chaotic world. What begins as a strange and unexpected encounter quickly spirals into a series of humorous and bizarre events as the two navigate their odd cohabitation.
A Mysterious Beginning
The anime’s first official teaser emerged through an unconventional route. A “leaked image” was shared online, presenting a graphic that appeared to be hastily edited. Shortly thereafter, however, the anime’s true key visual—featuring both Sakurako and MuuMuu—was unveiled, confirming the project’s authenticity.
Looking Ahead
Me and the Alien MuuMuu is scheduled to air in 2025, with more details regarding additional cast members and production staff set to be announced in the coming months. Fans of the manga and newcomers alike can look forward to this unique blend of extraterrestrial comedy and everyday domestic antics.
