by Hazel

Odex announced plans to release the first film of the Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club anime film trilogy in the Philippines. The movie, which premiered in Japan on September 6, will be part of the ongoing franchise’s final chapter. However, Odex has yet to confirm an exact release date for the local screening.

The first film in the Love Live! Nijigasaki Gakuen School Idol Dōkōkai Kanketsu-hen trilogy marks a significant moment in the franchise, serving as the conclusion to the anime’s storyline. The second installment of the trilogy is scheduled to release in winter 2025. This final set of films will bring closure to the narrative arc of the beloved Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club series.

Set after the events of the previous two television seasons and the Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club Next Sky original video anime, the new trilogy continues the story with familiar faces. The main cast and staff, including voice actors and producers, return to complete the trilogy, ensuring continuity for fans.

The plot of the trilogy follows the Nijigasaki High School Idol Club after the departure of one of its key members, Isla, who returns to her home country. The club is invited to participate in the “School Idol GPX” contest, an event where idols compete as individuals rather than as teams representing their schools. Performances are streamed via an app, and six of the club’s members—Ayumu, Kasumi, Shizuku, Kanata, Emma, and Lanzhu—travel to Okinawa to take part in the competition. As they face new challenges and encounters, Ayumu grapples with conflicting emotions about competing against her fellow club members.
