Gachiakuta Anime Adaptation Reveals New Visual and Promotional Video Featuring Protagonist Rudo

The upcoming anime adaptation of Gachiakuta has released a striking new visual and a short promotional video, introducing the protagonist, Rudo. The visual, crafted by character designer and chief animation director Satoshi Ishino, offers a first look at the character in the anime’s distinctive art style.

Set to premiere in 2025, Gachiakuta is based on the action-packed manga by Kei Urana. Originally serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine, the manga has garnered significant attention and currently spans 13 tankoubon volumes as of December 2024. The story follows Rudo, a young man living in the slums of a floating town, where the poor struggle beneath the opulent lives of the wealthy elite. The affluent inhabitants discard their waste into the abyss, oblivious to the lives it affects below.

Rudo’s life takes a dark turn when he is falsely accused of murder and wrongfully convicted. His punishment? Exile into the abyss, cast off with the town’s refuse. There, amidst the discarded waste of humanity, monstrous creatures roam the surface. In this desolate world, Rudo must unlock a new power if he hopes to uncover the truth behind his exile and seek vengeance against those responsible. To do so, he joins a group called the Cleaners, a team dedicated to battling the grotesque trash beasts of the Pit.

The manga features graffiti-style art by Hideyoshi Ando and was a finalist in the Shonen Category at the 47th and 48th Kodansha Manga Awards. Kodansha USA has licensed the series for English publication.
