Cardcaptor Sakura Movie 2: The Sealed Card is set to return to theaters in Japan for a special anniversary screening. The beloved anime film, which originally premiered on July 15, 2000, will screen for one night only on July 11, 2025, across 56 theaters nationwide.
The movie serves as the finale to the original Cardcaptor Sakura anime series and will be accompanied by a screening of the short film Leave It to Kero-chan!, just as it did during its original release.
First Movie Also Returning
In addition to the anniversary showing of The Sealed Card, the first Cardcaptor Sakura movie will also return to theaters. Screenings begin on May 30 and include the short film CLOVER. Fans attending the screenings will receive limited edition art card bonuses.
Where to Watch the Series
For those looking to revisit the series, Crunchyroll currently streams both the original Cardcaptor Sakura and its sequel series Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card.
The original series follows Sakura Kinomoto, a ten-year-old girl who discovers a magical book in her father’s study. After accidentally releasing a set of enchanted cards, Sakura is chosen to recover them, balancing her magical duties with her everyday life as a fourth grader. With help from her friends and family, Sakura learns the true meaning of courage, love, and responsibility.
The anniversary screening offers longtime fans a chance to relive the magic of Sakura’s story on the big screen, while introducing a new generation to one of anime’s most iconic magical girl adventures.
