The official website for Kinnikuman: Perfect Origin Arc has unveiled a new key visual and confirmed the premiere date for the anime’s second season. The highly anticipated season will debut on January 12, 2024, at 11:30 p.m. JST on CBC, TBS, and 26 affiliated channels across Japan. The series will also air on BS11 and Animax, and will be available for international streaming on Netflix.
The visual, which was released on November 28, 2024, teases the continuation of the intense battle between the Seigi and Akuma Allied Forces, as the Perfect Large Numbers storyline unfolds at the iconic Tottori Sand Dunes.
The Story So Far
The Kinnikuman: Perfect Origin Arc is based on the 2011 revival manga, which revisits the original Kinnikuman storyline, and picks up where the series left off in the late 1980s. The arc follows the journey of Prince Kinnikuman, who, after being ridiculed as a weak Chojin (superhuman) on Earth, miraculously wins the prestigious Chojin World Cup—a tournament to crown the greatest fighter in the world. His victory and subsequent successes lead to his rise as a protector of the universe, defeating various powerful forces, including the Akuma Chojin and the Perfect Chojin, who seek to dominate or destroy weaker Chojin.
After defeating his enemies and winning the Survival Match for the Kinnikusei Throne, Kinnikuman is crowned the 58th Great King of Kinnikusei. He returns to his home planet, marries, and retires from fighting. However, the peace he fought for is soon threatened again, setting the stage for a new battle in the upcoming season.
Season 2: What to Expect
Pony Canyon describes the story of the second season as follows: “This winter, the battle between the Seigi/Akuma Allied Forces and the Perfect Large Numbers unfolds at the Tottori Sand Dunes.”
The anime originally premiered on July 7, 2024, with a recap episode, featuring updated animation. The first season was broadcast on CBC, TBS, and 26 affiliates, airing in the new Agaru Anime programming block. The series has since been streamed globally on Netflix, with episode releases following regional schedules.

A Legacy of Wrestling and Manga
Created by Yudetamago, the Kinnikuman manga began in 1979 and ran until 1987. The series enjoyed great popularity and was adapted into multiple anime seasons and films. In 2011, Yudetamago revived the manga as a free webcomic, picking up where the story left off, with new chapters continuing the narrative. In addition to inspiring an enduring anime franchise, Kinnikuman also led to the release of toy figures under the M.U.S.C.L.E brand in the U.S. during the 1980s.
The Kinnikuman legacy was further expanded with the release of Kinnikuman Nisei (Ultimate Muscle: The Kinnikuman Legacy), a sequel manga that was later adapted into an anime and broadcast by 4Kids Entertainment in North America.
As of October 2024, the 86th volume of the Kinnikuman manga was released in Japan, marking a significant milestone in the franchise’s ongoing history. Fans worldwide can look forward to more action and drama as Kinnikuman: Perfect Origin Arc continues to captivate audiences with its larger-than-life battles and rich storytelling.
