On April 8, Bushiroad Works announced that the fantasy manga series The Ancient Magus’ Bride by Kore Yamazaki has surpassed 12 million copies in circulation. This milestone refers to the manga’s total print count and does not include spin-offs or novels.
The manga has been serialized on Bushiroad Works’ Comic Growl website, with the latest 22nd volume released today in Japan. The 23rd volume is scheduled to be released on October 8, 2025.
Since its debut, The Ancient Magus’ Bride has been adapted into two OVA series and two TV anime series between 2016 and 2023. Crunchyroll, which streams all of the anime adaptations, describes the series as follows:
Hatori Chise has endured a life of neglect and abuse, devoid of love and family warmth. Her troubles seem endless until a fateful encounter with a mysterious man. With the head of a beast and strange powers, he acquires Chise through a slave auction, changing her life forever. The man, a powerful sorcerer known as a “magus,” frees Chise from captivity and declares that she will become both his apprentice and his bride.
