More than three years after its debut, the Aoashi anime is officially getting a second season. The announcement was made today through the anime’s official website and social media accounts. The new season is scheduled to air in 2026, with TMS Entertainment taking over production duties from Production I.G.
Based on the manga by Yugo Kobayashi, the first season was directed by Akira Sato (Kinnikuman Perfect Origin Arc) at Production I.G. The staff also included Masahiro Yokotani (All Out!!) on series composition, character designers Toshio Kawamura, Saki Hasegawa, Manabu Nakatake, and Asuka Yamaguchi, with music composed by Masaru Yokoyama (Tsurune).
The series is available to stream on Crunchyroll, which describes the story as follows:
After losing his final junior high school soccer tournament, Ashito Aoi—an ace player from Ehime Prefecture—is left heartbroken. However, Tatsuya Fukuda, a coach from an elite youth academy tied to a J-League club, spots his potential. He invites Ashito to try out, setting the stage for a journey that could take both the player and the youth team to new heights.
