Crunchyroll has officially announced the release of Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom, the first theatrical film in the popular Overlord anime franchise. The movie is set to premiere in U.S. and Canadian theaters on November 8, 2024, distributed by Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment. It will be available in both Japanese with English subtitles and dubbed in English.
Directed by Naoyuki Itō and produced by MADHOUSE, the film continues the story from the conclusion of Season 4 of the anime series. The plot follows Momonga, now known as the Sorcerer King Ainz Ooal Gown, as he responds to a call for help from the Sacred Kingdom, which is under threat from the Demon Emperor Jaldabaoth and his army of villainous demi-humans. Ains rallies his undead army to join forces with the Sacred Kingdom and the Slane Theocracy in a bid to defeat the new threat.
Tickets for the film are now on sale, and fans can find more information and purchase tickets through the official movie website. All four seasons of the Overlord anime are currently available to stream on Crunchyroll.
