Tokuma Japan, a Japanese record company, has released a special clip featuring the soundtrack music from the classic 1985 OVA Angel’s Egg, composed by Yoshihiro Kanno. The clip, now streaming on the official Tokuma Japan YouTube channel, promotes the launch of the OVA’s original soundtrack vinyl LP and UHQCD, both released on May 7.
The soundtrack has been remastered under Kanno’s supervision using the latest technology, and all tracks are now available for streaming and digital download.
Angel’s Egg was the first original OVA written and directed by Mamoru Oshii, known for Ghost in The Shell. It also marked his first collaboration with renowned illustrator Yoshitaka Amano. The 71-minute OVA debuted in Japan on December 15, 1985, under Tokuma Shoten.
As previously reported, a 4K remastered edition of the anime is being prepared for its 40th anniversary in 2025. Additionally, GKIDS will screen the remastered version in North American theaters that same year.
The anime’s synopsis, as described by GKIDS, is as follows:
In an underwater city, a young girl cares for a large egg she believes to be an angel’s egg. A boy with a gun arrives, searching for a bird he saw in his dreams. Initially, the two seem to form a bond, but things take a tragic turn when the boy crushes the girl’s precious egg one night.
