The highly anticipated TV anime adaptation of Tougen Anki, based on Yura Urushibara’s manga, has unveiled its premiere dates and other exciting details. The anime will make its world debut at AFA Indonesia 2025 on June 7. It will then have a special screening of its first three episodes at United Cinemas Toyosu in Japan on June 21. The series will also be showcased at Anime Expo 2025 in the United States.
The anime will officially air on Japanese television starting July 11. Japanese rock band BAND-MAID (ZENSHU) will perform the ending theme song, titled “What is justice?”
Tougen Anki is published in English by Yen Press under the title Tougen Anki: Legend of the Cursed Blood.
Directed by Ato Nonaka at Studio Hibari, the anime features Hiroyuki Hashimoto as assistant director. Yukie Sugawara handles the series composition and scriptwriting, while Ryoko Amisaki designs the characters. Scott MacDonald provides the art direction, and music is composed by KOHTA YAMAMOTO.
The series follows Shiki Ichinose, who learns of his Oni heritage after a surprise attack by the legendary Momotaro. This revelation forces Shiki to confront his destiny and the Oni blood within him, setting the stage for an epic conflict between two ancient factions—the Oni and the Momotaro Agency.
