David Production, the acclaimed studio behind Fire Force, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Cells at Work!, and 2022’s Urusei Yatsura, is set to launch its first original animated series, Onmyo Kaiten Re:Birth Verse. The series will stream worldwide on Crunchyroll, excluding Asia, starting July 2, with new episodes releasing weekly in Japan.
Directed by Hideya Takahashi (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind, 2022’s Urusei Yatsura), who also created the original concept, Onmyo Kaiten Re:Birth Verse features a story written by Fujiko Sakuno, with Akuto Sato providing the original plot. The series composition is written by Hayashi Mori, known for his work on the animated film Drifting Home and the series Cells at Work! Code Black and Sand Land: The Series.
Synopsis:
Narihira Takeru, a delinquent, often dreams of Tsukimiya, a girl he doesn’t know. After a mysterious accident, Takeru finds himself in a parallel universe, the world where Tsukimiya lives. When they are both killed by a monster, Takeru is resurrected, only to discover he has jumped through time. To save Tsukimiya, Takeru must train with the legendary Abe Seimei to fight for her life.
The series features character design by Kazuaki Morita (Classroom of the Elite, Assassination Classroom), world and setting research by Katsuie Shibata, and music composed by Masahiro Tokuda (You Are Ms. Servant, One Piece Fan Letter).
