A television anime adaptation of Wash It All Away, a slice-of-life manga by Sankarea creator Mitsuru Hattori, has officially been announced. The news was revealed through the launch of a dedicated website and social media account on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday. The anime is scheduled to air in 2026.
The first teaser visual has been released, and voice actress Sayumi Suzushiro—known for her role as Himari in Can a Boy-Girl Friendship Survive?—will voice the lead character, Wakana Kinme.
Wash It All Away was serialized in Young Gangan magazine from July 2017 to June 2023 and compiled into ten volumes. The series follows Wakana Kinme, who runs a small laundry shop in the coastal town of Atami. Though she has no memories of her own past, Wakana finds meaning in preserving the memories of others through their belongings.
The anime is being produced by studio Okuruto Noboru. Kenta Onishi (Studio Apartment, Good Lighting, Angel Included) will direct, with series composition by Toko Machida (Life Lessons with Uramichi Oniisan). Character designs are by Azuma Tozawa, who previously worked as animation director on Hell’s Paradise.
Square Enix publishes the manga in English and describes the story as a heartwarming tale of community and quiet healing, centered on a woman who brings comfort to others while slowly uncovering her own mysterious past.
