‘Rick and Morty’ Fans Are Just Realizing That ‘Two Brothers’ Is an Actual Movie

by Hazel

Many animated shows are known for creating fake but memorable movies within their universes. The Simpsons is famous for titles like The Bloodening, Hail to the Chimp, and McBain: Let’s Get Silly, while Bob’s Burgers introduced the action-packed samurai saga Hawk & Chick. And of course, South Park has given us hilarious yet depressing comedies starring Rob Schneider in bizarre transformations.

But Rick and Morty takes things to another level, especially when it comes to creating fictional pop-culture moments. In Season 1’s “Rixty Minutes,” Rick, frustrated with The Bachelor, hooks up a cable box that opens up a gateway to TV channels from infinite realities. This allows the family to watch bizarre programming from alternate dimensions, including a “movie about a guy eating shit,” an ultra-violent version of Antiques Roadshow, and the hit sitcom Schmoo’s the Schmloss.

However, the most iconic creation to come from this chaotic cable-hopping was the absurdly convoluted trailer for the action-packed movie Two Brothers, also known by its full title: Alien Invasion Tomato Monster Mexican Armada Brothers Who Are Just Regular Brothers Running in A Van From An Asteroid and All Sorts of Things the Movie.

While Two Brothers originally seemed like just an example of Rick and Morty creator Justin Roiland’s off-the-wall “improv nonsense,” it has since taken on a life of its own. Fans were shocked to discover that real posters for this 100% fictional movie actually exist, blurring the line between the show’s absurd universe and reality.
