Kaiju No. 8, the anime adaptation of the hit action-packed science fiction manga, is set to return for a second season in July 2025. To mark the occasion, the series has unveiled the 10th illustration in its Kaiju Hyakkei (“100 Views of Monsters”) series, offering a glimpse into everyday life in a world where giant monsters constantly invade. The new season will be available for streaming on Crunchyroll as part of the summer 2025 anime lineup.
The original manga, created by Naoya Matsumoto, is serialized in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ digital magazine, and an English version is published by VIZ Media. The anime is directed by Shigeyuki Miya and Tomomi Kamiya at Production I.G, with Ichiro Okouchi handling the series composition. Tetsuya Nishio is the chief animation director and character designer, while Mahiro Maeda designs the Kaiju creatures. Shinji Kimura serves as the art director, and Yuta Bandoh provides the music.
Crunchyroll describes the series:
Kaiju No. 8 follows Kafka Hibino, a 32-year-old man determined to join the Defense Force and honor a childhood promise to his friend, Mina Ashiro. While working as a cleaner on Kaiju cleanup duty, he befriends Reno Ichikawa, a new coworker with a similar goal. Kafka’s resolve is tested when a small Kaiju burrows inside him, granting him superhuman strength and abilities suited for fighting Kaiju. As he strives to gain the trust of his teammates and protect humanity, Kafka faces increasingly powerful monsters and the challenges of balancing his new powers with his mission.
