Crunchyroll and Aniplex of America have announced the theatrical re-release of Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train in the United States and Canada, starting May 14. The movie will also be available in select international regions on the same day. The re-release will feature the film in stunning 4K resolution, with both a Japanese version with English subtitles and an English dub.
Tickets for screenings in the U.S. and Canada will be available starting April 30 (check local listings for details).
Originally released in Japan in October 2020, Mugen Train became a massive success, earning over ¥40 billion ($500 million globally) and becoming the highest-grossing film in Japan’s history. Directed by Haruo Sotozaki at studio ufotable, the film features character designs by Akira Matsushima and a soundtrack by Yuki Kajiura and Go Shiina.
Crunchyroll currently streams the entire Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba series, including the Mugen Train film and the seven-episode Mugen Train Arc. The next film in the series, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle, is scheduled for release in the U.S. and Canada in September.
The plot of Mugen Train follows Tanjiro and his friends as they board the Mugen Train, where over 40 people have mysteriously disappeared. Joining forces with the powerful Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku, they must confront a dangerous demon aboard the train.
