The upcoming Wandance anime has revealed key details, including a new teaser visual, the main cast, and an October 2025 release date. Koki Uchiyama, known for his role as Yamada in My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv999, will voice the lead character, Kaboku Kotani. Hina Yomiya, who voiced Yuki in SHOSHIMIN: How to Become Ordinary, will play his freestyle dance partner, Hikari Wanda.
The anime will be exclusively available for streaming on Disney+, as announced last November. The animation is being produced by MADHOUSE, the studio behind Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, and CYCLONE GRAPHICS. Michiya Kato, who worked as a visual effects supervisor on Bubble, is directing, while K-pop choreographer RIEHATA serves as the dance producer. Additional production staff details are yet to be confirmed.
The Wandance manga, written by Coffee, has been serialized in Monthly Afternoon magazine since January 2019 and currently has 13 collected volumes. Kodansha USA publishes the English version of the manga, which follows the story of Kaboku Kotani, a high school student who prefers to stay under the radar due to his stutter. However, his perspective changes when he sees Hikari Wanda, a fellow first-year, dancing without a care. Inspired by her freedom, Kaboku decides to join the dance club, embarking on a journey to overcome his insecurities.
Stay tuned for more updates on the Wandance anime as its release date approaches.
