Death Stranding fans have even more to look forward to. Alongside the upcoming game sequel and a live-action adaptation from A24, series creator Hideo Kojima has confirmed that an anime based on the franchise is also in development.
Kojima briefly mentioned the anime project during a recent interview with Vogue Japan. While he provided no further details, the comment followed a discussion about the A24-produced film adaptation. This isn’t the first time Kojima has hinted at branching out into animation. In a Variety interview last September, he referred to anime as one of several media formats that Kojima Productions might explore.
For now, fans will have to wait for more information about the anime. Meanwhile, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is set to launch on PlayStation 5 on June 26, 2025.
The original Death Stranding was released on November 8, 2019. It starred Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, and others, combining their voice and likeness in a cinematic experience. The game’s story is set in a post-apocalyptic future where a mysterious phenomenon known as the “Death Stranding” has blurred the line between life and death. Players take on the role of Sam Bridges, a courier tasked with reconnecting isolated communities and bringing hope to a fractured world.
