After years of anticipation, One-Punch Man Season 3 has finally received an official update. The new season is scheduled to premiere in October 2025, marking six years since the release of Season 2 in 2019.
Viz Media, a leading distributor of anime and manga in North America, has acquired the rights to the upcoming season. The announcement confirms that J.C. Staff, the studio behind Season 2, will return to animate Season 3. The first season was produced by Madhouse.
While Viz Media previously handled distribution for the first two seasons, its involvement in Season 3 was not guaranteed. The update brings clarity following industry shifts, such as GKIDS securing the North American rights to Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death – The Movie. This move followed GKIDS’ growing role in anime distribution, including titles like Look Back and Dandadan: Evil Eye, after its acquisition by Japanese entertainment giant Toho.
The timing of the One-Punch Man update aligns with news from Yusuke Murata, illustrator of the manga adaptation. In late May, Murata announced a two-month hiatus for the webcomic published in Tonari no Young Jump, with the next chapter expected on July 17. The manga is based on the original webcomic by One, who also created Mob Psycho 100.
One-Punch Man follows Saitama, a hero who defeats enemies with a single punch after three years of intense training. Alongside his cyborg disciple Genos, he joins the Hero Association just as monster attacks rise and a looming catastrophe predicted by the Great Seer Madame Shibabawa begins to unfold. The threat escalates with the arrival of the feared “hero hunter,” Garou.
The anime is currently available on streaming platforms including Crunchyroll, Hulu, and Netflix. The manga can be read digitally through Viz Media and Manga Plus. While Season 3 is confirmed for October 2025, a specific premiere date has not yet been announced.
