The latest film in the Uta no Prince-sama franchise, The Movie: TABOO NIGHT XXXX, has sold over 300,000 tickets within 19 days of its release. According to Animate Times, the film has earned a total of 537,561,800 yen (approximately 3.68 million USD) from 306,558 admissions as of May 27.
The movie centers on QUARTET NIGHT, a four-member senior idol group in the franchise, and serves as the third concert film in the series. The previous two films focused on the main idol unit ST☆RISH and were released in 2019 and 2022.
TABOO NIGHT XXXX opened in 135 theaters across Japan on May 9. It debuted at fourth place in the box office ticket sales ranking during its opening weekend and dropped to sixth in the second weekend. During its third weekend, from May 23 to 25, the film slipped to seventh place but saw a box office increase, earning 116% of its second-weekend gross.
