To celebrate the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, McDonald’s U.S. has released a playful tribute to some of anime’s most iconic characters—including Solo Leveling’s Sung Jinwoo—by imagining their ideal breakfast orders.
The fast-food giant unveiled the new campaign with an illustration posted by Guillaume Huin, McDonald’s Senior Marketing Director, on his official X (formerly Twitter) account. The artwork showcases 10 McDonald’s takeout bags, each labeled with a different anime character’s name and a breakfast order tailored to their personality.
Among the featured characters are Sung Jinwoo (Solo Leveling), Maomao (The Apothecary Diaries), Ichigo Kurosaki (Bleach), Frieren (Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End), the Colossal Titan (Attack on Titan), Monkey D. Luffy (One Piece), Ranma Saotome (Ranma ½), Isagi Yoichi (Blue Lock), and Momo and Okarun from Dandadan.
Huin explained that the design of each bag reflects the personality of the character. For instance, Maomao’s green-themed, neatly folded bag symbolizes her meticulous nature. Meanwhile, the bag for Kafka Hibino of Kaiju No. 8 hints at his dual identity, reflecting the character’s internal conflict.
Sung Jinwoo’s order stood out the most—an Egg McMuffin with 10 packets of grape jam. Fans speculate the jam is a humorous nod to Jinwoo’s ability to “spam” powerful attacks or level up rapidly after battles.
Solo Leveling, adapted by A-1 Pictures, dominated the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards. It won Anime of the Year, along with top honors in Best New Series, Best Score, Best Action Anime, Best Ending Sequence, and Best Main Character.
The anime’s second season, Solo Leveling: Arise From the Shadow, aired from January 4 to March 30, 2025. Although a third season has not yet been officially announced, both studio representatives and voice actors—including Aleks Le, the English voice of Jinwoo—have hinted that a continuation is in development.
At Cannes’ “Animation Day” event, Crunchyroll’s Head of Theatrical and Distribution, Mitchel Berger, shared that Solo Leveling’s success makes future content likely. “We’re not sure exactly when, but it will be here,” he said. “Fans will continue to see the story.”
Solo Leveling is streaming exclusively on Crunchyroll. The original web novel and its webtoon adaptation are available in English from Yen Press.
