The ongoing second season of Ishura has released a new key visual as it approaches its sixth episode, marking the anime’s entry into its second half. The series premiered in Japan on January 8, 2025, and is scheduled to run for a total of 12 episodes.
Takeo Takahashi, known for Wasteful Days of High School Girls, is the chief director, with Yuki Ogawa (Mieruko-chan) serving as the director. Kenta Ihara (The Marginal Service) is responsible for the series’ screenplay, while Yoko Kikuchi (Kuroko’s Basketball) and Yuka Takashina (Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha) have designed the characters. Masahiro Tokuda, who worked on Platinum End, composes the music. The animation is produced by Passione, with Sanzigen assisting with CG animation.
Other notable staff include Kazuo Ogura (Attack on Titan: Final Season) and Yuki Hatakeyama (The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes) as art directors, Seiji Handa (Yu-Gi-Oh: Arc-V) and Hiroya Iijima (Mazinger-Z: Infinity) as monster designers, and Kanta Suzuki (Regalia: The Three Sacred Stars) as mechanical designer. The assistant directors are Takuya Asaoka (Immoral Guild), Fujiaki Asari (Love Flops), Takahiro Majima (Mieruko-chan), and Hironori Aoyagi (Harem in the Labyrinth of Another World).

The series is available for streaming on Hulu in the U.S. and on Disney+ in select English-speaking regions.Originally, Ishura began as a web novel by Keiso, first serialized on Kakuyomu and Shosetsuka ni Naro in June 2017. It was later adapted into a light novel by ASCII Media Works and published with illustrations by Kureta on September 17, 2019. The light novel series is published under the Dengeki no Shinbungei label, and as of December 2024, ten volumes have been released. It also ranked first in the This Light Novel is Amazing 2021 rankings for its tankobon/novels category. A manga adaptation by Meguri began serialization on March 5, 2021, in Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Magazine.
