The first minute of The Beginning After The End (TBATE) anime has been released ahead of its 2025 premiere, offering a sneak peek into the action-packed world of the upcoming series. The footage, shared through an IGN interview with creator TurtleMe (Brandon Lee), showcases an unfinished but intriguing sequence. It opens with the protagonist, King Grey, battling a soldier, only to have an enemy force unleash bombs from the sky. The clip ends with King Grey reflecting solemnly, “That’s right. I… was a king.”
The anime’s production staff was also revealed. The series is produced by Slow Curve, directed by Keitaro Motonaga, with Takamitsu Kono handling series composition, Masami Sueoka as character designer, and Keiji Inai providing the music. A-CAT is responsible for animation production.
The main cast includes Makoto Furukawa as King Grey, who is reincarnated as Arthur Leywin, voiced by Natsumi Fujiwara. Kana Ichinose will voice Tessia, and Chiaki Omigawa will voice Jasmine.
In a recent interview, TurtleMe opened up about the journey of bringing his story to life, from its origins as a web novel on Tapas, to becoming a webcomic, and now an anime adaptation. He shared insights into the challenges and triumphs of the adaptation process, as well as the deeper motivations behind the characters of King Grey and Arthur.
Tapas describes the series as follows:
King Grey once possessed unparalleled strength, wealth, and prestige in a world dominated by martial prowess. Yet, behind his power, he faced deep loneliness. In his new life, reincarnated into a world filled with magic and monsters, he has a second chance to correct his past mistakes. But his journey will not be easy, as an underlying threat looms beneath the peace and prosperity of this new world, forcing him to question his purpose and the reason for his rebirth.
The anime will stream on Crunchyroll in the future, bringing this compelling story of rebirth, magic, and power to a global audience.
