The anime adaptation of nonco’s comedy manga Kanan-sama wa Akumade Choroi has been officially confirmed for release in 2026. The announcement was made today via the series’ official X (formerly Twitter) account. The TV anime will be produced by Studio KAI, known for its work on FUUTO PI and Super Cub. An official website for the project has launched, featuring a teaser visual and a special commemorative illustration by nonco.
Details regarding the cast and staff will be revealed in the near future.
Serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine since June 2022, Kanan-sama wa Akumade Choroi currently has eight volumes published, with the ninth scheduled for release on April 16, 2025.
The anime’s official website provides a brief synopsis of the story:
Kanan, the “Gourmet Devil,” has arrived in the human world to feast on the souls of young people. Her first target is Yoji Kugi, who she plans to devour with all the pomp of a high-class meal. However, things take an unexpected turn when Kanan and Kugi form a romantic contract.
For Kanan, who has lived for thousands of years without experiencing love, every day is a new adventure. From going home together to holding hands and going on dates, Kanan is thrilled by her first taste of love. But her romantic gestures are anything but graceful as she faces her emotions for the first time.
A quirky, first-love rom-com about a cute but clueless devil begins!
