Aniplex has released a new character trailer for Shinon Ogawa, a key figure in the spring 2025 anime Food for the Soul. The trailer was posted on the official Aniplex YouTube channel, following the earlier release for another main character, Kurea Furutachi.
Shinon is voiced by Yoshino Aoyama, known for her role as Hitori Gotoh in BOCCHI THE ROCK!. According to the anime’s official website, Shinon is described as the president of the Food Culture Research Club and a childhood friend of the main character, Mako. The two reconnect in college. Shinon is cheerful, proactive, but tends to act without a plan, often involving her fellow club members in her spontaneous decisions.
Food for the Soul features an original story and character designs by Atto, the creator of Non Non Biyori. The anime is directed by Shinya Kawatsura and Toru Shunsui at studio P.A.WORKS. The series composition is by Yoshihiro Hiki (Akiba Maid War), with character designs adapted for animation by Hajime Mitsuda (Akiba’s Trip The Animation). The music is composed by Hitomi Mizutani (Non Non Biyori).
The opening theme, “Sonna Mon ne,” is performed by asmi, while the ending theme, “Miso Soup and Butter,” is sung by singer-songwriter Reira Ushio. The anime premiered in Japan on April 12.
Crunchyroll is streaming the series globally (excluding Japan, China, Korea, and Mongolia). The show follows Mako, a first-year university student who, living alone for the first time, finds comfort in cooking gourmet meals in her small kitchen. Although too shy to dine out alone, her life changes when she joins a foodie club. Through new friendships, she embarks on a journey of self-discovery, learning to appreciate both food and the joy of shared meals and laughter.
