A TV anime adaptation of the light novel series An Observation Log of My Fiancée Who Calls Herself a Villainess has been confirmed for release in 2026. The official website and X (formerly Twitter) account for the series launched today, revealing the first teaser visual and details about the main production team.
The anime will be directed by Junichi Yamamoto (Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke’s Mansion) at Ashi Productions. The series composition will be handled by Akiko Inoue (Scarlet Nexus), while Miki Matsumoto (Summer Time Rendering) will provide character designs.
The official English version of the manga adaptation, written by Natsume Hasumi and published by Alpha Manga, describes the plot as follows:
Prince Cecil, an extraordinarily intelligent young man, finds life dull and uneventful until his engagement to Bertia, the daughter of a marquis. However, their first meeting is anything but ordinary when Bertia claims she is the “villainous heroine” of his life story. She asserts that she has memories from a previous life, where she played the role of the villainess in a “romance game.” Now, in her new life, Bertia aims to fulfill her purpose as a villainess by ruining their engagement. As she sets out to achieve this goal, she creates chaos and confusion, setting the stage for a unique and twisted love story.
