Persia, the Magic Fairy, the beloved 1984 magical girl anime, is marking its 40th anniversary with a special live event in Tokyo on June 15. Hosted at the Animate Theater, the celebration will reunite cast members and pay tribute to one of Studio Pierrot’s earliest magical girl series.
Titled Persia, the Magic Fairy 40th Anniversary Event: We “Always” Love Persia!, the event name references the manga’s original title, Persia ga Suki! (“We love Persia”). Fans can look forward to a nostalgic evening featuring live voice acting and a mini concert.
Voice actress Miina Tominaga, who played the titular character, and Yuriko Fuchizaki, the voice of Kishin Shinokawa, are scheduled to appear.
A Classic Returns to the Spotlight
Persia, the Magic Fairy first aired in 1984 and was one of the early magical girl titles produced by Studio Pierrot, alongside classics like Creamy Mami, the Magic Angel and Pastel Yumi. The series follows Persia, an energetic 11-year-old raised on the Serengeti, who receives a magical golden headband from the Fairy Queen of the realm known as Lovely Dream. The headband allows Persia to transform into a teenage girl with magical powers.
Balancing her new life in Japan, Persia works to gather love energy to save the Lovely Dream, while navigating her feelings for the Muroi twins, two charming boys competing for her affection.
This anniversary event offers fans a rare opportunity to relive the magic of one of anime’s early magical girl icons in a night filled with nostalgia, music, and celebration.
