The sci-fi anthology anime series MIRU: Paths to My Future premiered last week in Japan. Today, fans worldwide can enjoy a creditless version of the series’ opening movie, featuring characters from all five stories. The opening theme, “AI=UTA”, is performed by the virtual artist group V.W.P.
The MIRU: Paths to My Future series consists of the following episodes:
Episode 079: “Stardust Memory” (Director: Norio Kashima)
Episode 101: “The King of the Forest” (Director: Okamoto)
Episode 217: “Londonderry Air” (Director: Tomohiro Kawamura)
Episode 630: “Re: MIRU” (Director: Naofumi Mishina)
Episode 926: “Wait, I’ll Be There” (Director: Saori Nakashiki)
The official website provides the following concept description:
Set in the distant future, the story revolves around a robot named MIRU, capable of traveling through time and across parallel worlds. Unlike other robots, MIRU is not armed with weapons. Instead, its mission is to assist people in overcoming significant challenges through peaceful means, fostering new beginnings without resorting to violence. As MIRU evolves by interacting with individuals, it learns and grows, offering support to those in need. By helping others, MIRU triggers a “Butterfly Effect,” sparking dramatic changes that guide society toward a better future. The series raises the questions: Why was MIRU created? What is its true purpose? Can it save humanity and the Earth from a dystopian future?
