Following the airing of the final episode of My Happy Marriage Season 2 in Japan, the series’ official channels have announced that a new anime project is in development. A trailer and visual were released, but no further details, such as format or release date, were provided at this time.
The anime is based on the light novel series by Akumi Agitogi and Tsukiho Tsukioka. Directed by Takehiro Kubota (assistant director for ID: INVADED) at Kinema Citrus studio, the show stars Kaito Ishikawa (known for his role as Junichiro in Tomo-chan Is a Girl!) as Kiyoka Kudo and Reina Ueda (Kanao from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba) as Miyo Saimori. A second season is currently under production.
Yen Press publishes the official English version of the light novels, which describe the plot:
“Is this marriage a blessing, or a curse?”
Miyo Saimori, born without supernatural talent into a noble family known for its powerful abilities, endures a life of hardship under the abuse of her stepmother. When she reaches marriageable age, Miyo’s hopes for a better life shatter upon learning that her fiancé is Kiyoka Kudou, a commander with a reputation for being cold and cruel—so much so that his previous fiancés fled within three days. With nowhere else to go, Miyo accepts her fate. However, as she gets to know her fiancé, she discovers that he is not the monster she imagined. As they gradually open their hearts to one another, they both realize that their union might be the key to true love and happiness.
