City Hunter: Angel Dust, the latest installment in the long-running City Hunter franchise, is officially headed to Blu-ray in North America. Following its Japanese theatrical premiere in September 2023 and an upcoming North American theatrical release in August 2024, the film will be available on Blu-ray starting July 14, 2025. The release, distributed by Shout! Studios in collaboration with Anime Limited, is now available for pre-order.
The action-packed film once again follows Ryo Saeba, the famed “sweeper” of Shinjuku, who works as a private detective alongside his partner Kaori Makimura. Their latest job appears simple: a filmmaker named Angie hires them to find her missing cat. While Ryo is captivated by Angie’s beauty, Kaori is more interested in the generous reward. However, the case soon spirals into something far more dangerous.
At the same time, Metropolitan Police officer Saeko Nogami investigates a sinister new biotechnology developed by Zoltech. Known as Angel Dust, the experimental enhancement turns ordinary soldiers into superhumans and has ties to Ryo’s traumatic past. Years ago, an earlier version of Angel Dust nearly destroyed him and led to the death of his former partner, Hideyuki Makimura.
As the film unfolds, the two cases begin to intersect, revealing hidden connections to Ryo’s origins and leading to a dramatic confrontation that could change everything.
