The official website for Aikatsu! Memorial Stage has unveiled the first trailer for its upcoming compilation film, Aikatsu! Memorial Stage Kagayaki no Unit Cup (translated as Shining Unit Cup). The film is scheduled for a limited three-week theatrical release beginning June 20, showing in 43 theaters across Japan.
The compilation will highlight the “Unit Cup Arc” from Season 3 of the original Aikatsu! anime, specifically Episodes 35 to 37. It will also include Episode 39, titled “Aikatsu Restaurant.” In addition to these selections, the film will feature special bonus footage and newly recorded interview segments, where idols reflect on their experiences and share behind-the-scenes stories.
The Aikatsu! franchise first launched in October 2012 with the original TV anime, which ran until March 2016. It later expanded with several follow-up series: Aikatsu Stars! (2016–2018), Aikatsu Friends! (2018–2019), Aikatsu on Parade! (2019–2020), and Aikatsu Planet! (2021). The most recent installment, Aikatsu Academy!, premiered in July 2024. This new project focuses on the virtual performances of Aikatsu idols, mainly shared through YouTube.
Fans of the long-running idol franchise can look forward to a nostalgic and fresh look at beloved episodes, along with exclusive content not seen before.
